English Paper Piecing is a hand sewing class for a patchwork technique that uses templates to make interesting shapes. The class will use the hexagon shape and we will discuss other shapes as well as fabric selection, thread, needles, and stitch techniques.

These are easy to make, eye catching and great gifts for teachers, friends, children or anyone you want to remember.  You will need two pieces of 11” x 23” cotton fabric and a piece of batting the same size. Also a Composition book, large button and a ponytail elastic. If you want to make one that looks like the picture let the instructor know and she will bring fabric strips to create it.

Come and learn how simple it is to embellish your clothing with bits of embroidery. Whether it's a jeans leg, bucket hat or baby onesie, this class will show you how to make any piece one of a kind.

Ever wondered what you could do with a pair of old jeans? Recycle them into a classic, one of a kind tote bag! For this class you will need one pair of jeans, some other pieces of fabric - maybe canvas, corduroy, suede, a piece of embroidery, or whatever you think will look good; half a yard of cotton for the lining, a yard of nylon or cotton strapping, any embellishments you want to use, and your imagination. You will need to know how to use your sewing machine, but this project is beginner friendly. After class you’ll be making these bags for everyone on your Christmas list!

In this class we will make a picture using a collage of various fabric elements. You do not need your sewing machine for this class. These can be found online by searching Laura Heine patterns.

Machine Paper piecing is a quilting technique that will give the quilter many options for intricate designs with crisp points. Bring several small pieces of fabric in different colors, rotary cutter, “Add a Quarter” ruler if you have one, and a small cutting mat. This workshop is an advanced technique and we will make a small project.

We will explore at least two different appliqué methods and how to use them. All materials provided. Bring a sewing machine in good working order, needles, thread, and all presser feet for your machine.  Other materials will be provided. If you need a machine let the instructor know. We have a few machines available for use.

You will also receive lots of tips for scrap organization and storage. Just bring a small bucket of scraps of all sizes and shapes, your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies.
